ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology for transmitting digital information at high bandwidths on existing phone lines. ADSL is asymmetric in that it uses most of the channel to transmit downstream to the user and only a small part to receive information from the user.

ADSL simultaneously accommodates analog (voice) and digital (data) information on the same line. This means ADSL can be added without adding new phone lines.

Other flavors of DSL can have the same speed rates for download and upload.

Net Pros, LLC is among the first in North Carolina to provide high speed ADSL service to forward-thinking businesses in the Triangle area.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Some Internet Service Providers provide & maintain my DNS entries. Do you provide that service?

A: We provide full DNS services for dedicated Internet domain customers at no additional charge for the first domain, and $10.00 per month for foreign (non-connectivity) domains.

Q: Do you offer a newsgroup server?

A: Our newsgroup server is news.ntusa.net. It is however only available to our clients.

Q: Are there any additional phone charges from BellSouth?

A: No. ADSL Telco charges are all inclusive in our base monthly recurring charge.

Q: What if I need more than 61 static IP addresses?

A: If over 61 IP’s are needed, the next tier is 125 - add $100 /monthly to the 61 address price level.

Q: I use my own e-mail server - do I get a rate reduction?

A: We include e-mail accounts per the number of hosts connected at our domain (yourname@4netpros.net) as a courtesy at no charge; therefore no credit will be issued if not used. Domain based e-mail hosting is available at our facility. Please refer to the pricing on the email pages.

Q: What is the availability guarantee?

A: Any service disruption in excess of 4 hours except, as an Act of God, will be credited on your next monthly bill.

Q: What network management do you provide (outside of my router)?

A: We can provide network-monitoring services via SNMP agents for Novell and/or Windows NT servers, and remote support of workstations via PC Anywhere, Microsoft SMS, or Novell Managewise.

Q: Do you provide any service level network statistics?

A: Currently no. This is a brand new service for both Bellsouth Industrial and us. It is currently substantially under-subscribed, and therefore performance is very high. Bellsouth Industrial's ADSL tariff is for a best efforts service (i.e. a shared access service from your location to the ATM switching center). From the ATM switching center, we have primary control of the level of circuit provisioning, and are confident that you will get good performance.

Q: What speed does a Web Server, Mail Server, FTP Server, etc. get to the Internet?

A: ADSL is not a symmetrical service. While you get 1.54 mbps burst rates when reading data from the Internet, the speed from your web site, browser, email or FTP servers will be limited to 256 kbps. If you are co-locating high volume web servers, FTP servers, e-mail servers, and/or more than 61 host PC’s, we would recommend our Burstable T-1 connection. That is a symmetrical 1.54 mbps connection. It comes with up to 253 IP addresses at no additional charge, and guarantees full T-1 speeds in both directions for $700.00/month plus local-loop charges. If a Burstable ‘T-1’ exceeds 512 KB/sec average utilization, an "exceeding committed bandwidth" charge kicks in.

Q: What if we are dissatisfied with your current ADSL service?

A: We will work diligently with all of our services to satisfy your needs. If our ADSL service is not "cutting it" for you, we will seek an alternate solution that will meet your performance requirements. If all else fails, you can cancel your ADSL contract within the first 60 days of service initialization with no penalty, credit you one month's fees, as well as credit you for the ADSL equipment costs upon return of equipment. Setup fees are non-refundable.

Q: Are you going to be offering Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL)?

A: We are currently investigating this service. If we will be able to offer SDSL with guaranteed burst rates, we would be happy to allow you to switch over to any of those services with no penalties against your contract if a symmetrical circuit would better suit your needs.

Q: Is tech service available 24/7?

A: Our technical staff is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30AM - 5:30PM at 919-851-7000 and a technician is on call by paged voice message after hours, 7 days per week - 24 hours per day.

Q: Can I get a list of current customers?

A: We will be glad to provide you with a short list of clients that have agreed to be contacted as references. We do not give out our full list of clients, their and your privacy is important to us. We will be happy to contact clients individually in your area of interest, and request permission to release information to you. Please call sales at 919-303-6447, or e-mail at sales@4netpros.com and we will forward a reference list to you.
